General Purpose

We are looking for a public relations intern to join our PR department. In this role, you will be working closely with the PR manager and assisting with implementing the public relations strategy, writing of media releases, scheduling PR events, conducting research, and much more. This position will also provide support as needed to other, high-priority team projects over the term.

Essential Duties (may include, but not limited to):

  • Support the PR manager in implementing the company's PR strategy.
  • Create engaging content for media releases, social media platforms, and influencer events.
  • Write, edit, and proofread various internal and external communications including email, social media, blogs, and briefs.
  • Provide support on influencer marketing campaigns.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming and planning sessions.
  • Give input on marketing initiatives and suggest creative ways to improve the company's public image.
  • Aid the PR manager with the scheduling and organizing of events, media appearances, and sponsorship execution.
  • Conduct research on industry trends and marketing initiatives of the company's competitors.
  • Research the media landscape for new story angles, opportunities, and potential company, employee, and department awards
  • Monitor media coverage on events and media releases that were issued and creating press clippings.
  • Research relevant media contacts and update media lists.
  • Build relationships with clients and potential clients, suppliers, and the media.
  • Perform administrative duties.

Required Education and Experience

  • Enrollment in a BA or BS degree in public relations, communication, marketing or other related fields.
  • Excellent understanding of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • Efficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic budget management skills to track spending on sponsorships, events, and marketing material.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with customers.
  • Good research and analytical skills.
  • The ability to prioritize your workload and keep to strict content deadlines.
  • Willingness to attend corporate events after hours and on weekends.
  • Knowledge of copywriting and editing.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

This position works in a typical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit, walk, talk, and listen. While performing the duties of the job in the office, the team member will work in a well-lit, open environment. The work may involve some bending, standing, or walking. Job duties are not hazardous or physically strenuous. However, the work sometimes is performed under pressure when the stress of deadlines occurs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This position is both remote and in our Maitland office based on the nature of the projects performed.
