General Purpose

The Senior Manager, People Operations will direct and administer the functions of the People Operations (HR) team including administering pay, benefits, leave, enforcing company policies and practices. This position reports to the Chief Talent Officer.

Essential Duties (may include, but not limited to)

  • Oversee, manage, and administer a broad range of operational HR functions, including compensation and benefits, onboarding and offboarding, employee-related documentation, FLSA and FMLA compliance, workers' compensation, people systems, data and analytics.
  • Provide support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issue arise.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Responsible for recommending best practices and methodologies as well as reviewing and updating policies and procedures; advising management on needed actions. Manages HR policy implementation and Employee Handbook updates in compliance with local laws and statutory regulations.
  • Manage SFC's talent acquisition processes from initial job requisitions to developing a recruiting strategy, interviewing candidates, and onboarding activities; assists Department heads with talent needs.
  • Manage SFC's compensation and benefits programs. Recommend upgrades designed to keep Sonny's Franchise Company the employer of choice; Oversees payroll and benefits administration and processing for the SFC HQ;
  • Manages a People Ops Specialist who manages the training store HR function.
  • Support SFC's efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive community through developing Diversity and Inclusion activities throughout the company.
  • Lead and promote activities which contribute to an inclusive, values-driven and high -performing culture.
  • Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends; reports findings to the Chief Talent Officer.
  • Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in management role in people operations or progressive HR-management
  • Extremely driven and able to produce results.
  • Excellent time-management skilled and organized.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • High social and emotional intelligence, with experience leading and cultivating strong relationships.
  • Excellent persuasive, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Desire to learn and grow in the position.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management system.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

While performing the duties of the job, the Senior Manager, People Operations will work in a well-lit, open environment. The work may involve some bending, standing or walking. Job duties are not hazardous or physically strenuous. However, the work sometimes is performed under pressure when the stress of deadlines occurs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel in a car occasionally is required in this position
